‘I just approached the founder of The Filipino Nurses Association, and I know and admire his work, so I basically just asked him can you be my mentor? Very straightforward. You’re not going to get it if you don’t ask, and he was, of course, surprised, but he liked that about me, and he agreed to coach me through the whole interview and job application process.’
