1. A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
‘I think when we are making any decision, we have to be collaborative in our approach. You need to take everyone together in your objective, and you have to just talk about it and educate people about why you’re doing it. It’s a step-by-step approach. The outcome is really important.’
Q. How do you ensure a collaborative approach to decision-making in your team? How do you share your intended outcome?
2. THE VALUE OF LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
‘Leadership development is very important at UHB. When I joined UHB, I was asked to do the Welcome to Leadership Programme, and I was really happy with this because it covers all the core values required and expected from any manager or leader. It’s going to impact on all the different sorts of HR metrics. So I would encourage all the managers and leaders within the organisation to do this programme for their self-development.’

3. ACQUIRE THE SOFT SKILLS
‘For all the different staff members at every level who are aspiring to be managers and leaders in the future, I think they have to be credible in their working because they will be the future role models. The sorts of behaviours that they exhibit, their team is going to follow. The soft skills I would say they need to acquire to be future leaders.’
Q. What soft skills do you have? How could you develop your soft skills further?
